We are looking for an Estimator to support our Projects division by managing surveying and tendering activities. You will play a key part in producing competitive tenders, taking off quantities from drawings and specifications, preparing complete estimates up to £2M, and ensuring all bids submitted are commercially accurate. Your work will enable Project Managers to focus on project delivery while ensuring a smooth and informed handover of successful bids.
In this role, you will liaise closely with the Project Management team to review tender documents, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clarification on proposed attendances and contract terms to minimise commercial risk. You will also be involved in the finalisation and adjudication of tenders, including value engineering suggestions, and will represent the company in meetings and negotiations when required. Site surveys, internal handover meetings, and supporting wider project processes will form part of your day-to-day responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare competitive tenders using drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Carry out accurate quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.
- Produce complete estimates up to £2M using estimating software.
- Ensure all bids are correct, commercially sound, and compliant with requirements.
- Prepare tender packages for subcontractors and review returned submissions.
- Contribute to tender adjudication, including value engineering proposals.
- Produce Schedule of Rates for each successful tender.
- Support Project Managers by reviewing tender documents and handing over successful bids clearly and effectively.
- Conduct site surveys and attend internal project handover meetings.
- Provide clarification on proposed attendances and contract terms to limit commercial risk.
- Prepare project management reports for internal teams.
- Identify risks and opportunities within each tender.
- Ensure compliance with IMS procedures, Health & Safety legislation, and Environmental standards.
- Represent the company in negotiations and meetings when required.
- Detail oriented and commercially aware.
- Demonstrable experience of current industry regulations and legislation.
- Proficient in Health & Safety legislation and compliance.
- Knowledge and understanding of contract design and construction drawings.
- Capable of assisting Project Managers and supporting ongoing projects to ensure continuity and productivity amongst a busy work schedule.
- Experience with the key responsibilities mentioned above.
- The requirement is mainly fabric/build packages; however, the successful candidate will have sound knowledge and experience of pricing minor mechanical and electrical items within the tenders.
