To serve as the School Trust's primary architect for data strategy and systems integration. The Data Solutions Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that the school's digital infrastructure is not just functional, but intelligent, interconnected, and secure. This role sits at the intersection of technical engineering and project management, acting as the pivotal link within the School's IT Services team. It transforms complex information into accessible tools for staff, combining database administration, custom development, and governance to eliminate inefficiencies and underpin data‑driven decision‑making across the School Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Database Management: Configure, maintain and optimise the Trust's MIS to act as the authoritative backbone of operations. Improve the flow of information between core databases and peripheral platforms (My School Portal, SOCS, Reach Boarding, Vectare), diagnose and resolve synchronisation errors.
  • Data Analysis: Transform complex data into actionable insights through summaries, dashboards and visualisations. Respond to requests from the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring data is extracted, cleaned and presented for strategic review.
  • Strategic Project Management: Lead data projects from inception to completion, defining deliverables and strategic plans. Design and run pilot schemes, evaluate success against KPIs, and authorise wider rollout. Manage formal handover, providing documentation and training for sustainable operation.
  • Programming: Deploy bespoke code to extend off‑the‑shelf software and database systems. Build API connectors to automate repetitive tasks and enable seamless system interactions. Leverage Google Workspace and Gemini AI to create intelligent agents and scripts that augment human capability.
  • Data Protection: Serve as subject matter expert and technical advisor to the CFOO (Statutory DPO). Design and implement systems that support data processing registers and breach reporting workflows. Manage SARs, develop a technology‑led workflow for search, redact and sign‑off. Lead DPIAs for new projects, ensuring privacy controls are embedded at the system level.
  • Maintaining the Staff Intranet: Manage lifecycle and technical structure of the Staff Intranet site. Collate and update departmental content to keep the platform current and engaging.
  • Training and Professional Development: Train and support staff on Trust systems, producing training materials as needed. Engage in independent professional development, the Trust's formal programme and appraisal processes. Pursue expertise in Generative AI and LLMs to explore applications in school administration. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of data privacy laws and cybersecurity trends.

Primary Interfaces

  • Collaborate daily with the Network Manager and Technical Engineers to ensure server stability and security.
  • Partner with the Director of Innovation & Development to roll out new digital initiatives and training.
  • Report regularly to the CFOO on data compliance, SARs and risk assessments.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Deep technical knowledge of Google Workspace administration, iSAMS (or equivalent MIS) and SQL queries.
  • Proven success in managing technical projects from conception to deployment.
  • Experience in GDPR compliance (SARs, DPIAs) and advising senior leadership.
  • Experience curating and managing a corporate intranet or knowledge base.
  • Ability to explain complex data concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong creative problem‑solving skills and independence in initiative.
  • High discretion and integrity when handling confidential data.
  • Proven coding and scripting capability to automate business logic; API configuration experience.
  • Relevant degree or professional certification in IT/Data Management.
  • Proactive approach to identifying systemic weaknesses and building remedies independently.
  • Unwavering commitment to confidentiality and data security.
