This is a hands-on role for a credible, professional driver who enjoys coaching others and raising standards. You'll work closely with Transport, Compliance, and Warehouse teams to develop confident, compliant drivers and reduce incidents, costs, and risk across the operation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Delivering driver training and assessments across the HGV fleet, including new starter and agency inductions, on-road assessments (pre-employment, post-incident, refresher), and targeted coaching based on telematics, infringements, and incident trends.
  • Supporting driver compliance and operating standards, working closely with Transport Managers on Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, tachograph best practice, FORS requirements, audits, and continuous improvement activity.
  • Investigating incidents and performance issues, carrying out post-incident reviews, analysing trends from telematics, defects, and accident data, and recommending preventative training actions.
  • Reinforcing fleet standards by promoting effective daily walk-round checks, defect reporting, and completing regular supervisory gate checks.
  • Maintaining accurate training and driver records, supporting audits and compliance reviews, and producing clear reports for Transport and Compliance teams.

What we're looking for:

  • Class 1 (C+E) HGV licence with up-to-date CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Solid HGV driving experience with credibility to assess, coach, and influence drivers.
  • Strong understanding of Drivers' Hours, WTD, tachograph compliance, and vehicle checks.
  • Comfortable using telematics, driver systems, and maintaining training records.
  • Confident, professional communicator with a practical, driver-first approach.
  • Flexible to meet operational demands, including varied start times.
  • Professional, approachable, and respected by drivers.
  • Safety-focused with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident influencing behaviour and improving standards.

Why join Silver X Group:

  • Competitive salary package (£35k-£38k DOE).
  • Opportunity to shape driver standards across a growing fleet.
  • Ongoing professional development and support.
  • A supportive, down-to-earth management and operations team.
  • A business genuinely committed to safety and compliance.

Our Benefits Package:

  • 20 days annual leave, increasing annually up to 28 days, plus 8 bank holidays.
  • One paid volunteer day per year.
  • Health Shield cashback plan – up to £1,000 per year towards everyday health and wellbeing costs.
  • Employee Assistance Programme, including confidential counselling support.
  • Employee discount hub with savings on high-street retailers, gyms, and leisure.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
