NeoDyne are recruiting a Control & Protection Engineer to join our expanding Transmission & Distribution team. The successful candidate will support the design, configuration, and commissioning of protection and control systems for substations, renewable energy projects, and industrial power systems. The position is based at our Chesterfield Office, with an excellent salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities
- Design and Engineering: Develop Protection and Control (P&C) designs for HV and MV substations, including protection schemes, control schematics, SLDs, and interlocking diagrams. Specify and design AC/DC auxiliary systems, control panels, marshalling cabinets, and wiring diagrams. Prepare Protection Coordination Studies, fault current calculations, and relay grading reports. Select and configure protection relays and prepare detailed relay setting files. Design and implement substation automation systems (SAS), RTU/PLC logic, and IEC 61850-based systems. Create detailed control logic diagrams, signal lists, and communication interfaces for SCADA, RTU, and IED integration.
- Testing, Commissioning, and Verification: Develop Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures for control and protection systems. Carry out relay testing, secondary injection, and end-to-end testing. Verify correct protection functionality, trip logic, interlocking, and communication protocols. Provide on-site technical support during commissioning, energisation, and fault-finding phases.
- Documentation and Compliance: Produce comprehensive design documentation, wiring schedules, technical specifications, and as-built drawings. Ensure compliance with Transmission Network Operator and DNO standards, IEC/EN standards, and client-specific design rules. Support the development and continuous improvement of design templates, engineering standards, and QA processes.
- Project Delivery and Collaboration: Report to the Lead or Senior Engineering Manager on projects; provide guidance and training to junior and graduate engineers; engage with clients, OEMs, and suppliers to clarify design interfaces, technical requirements, and delivery schedules.
Experience & Skills Required
- Bachelors/ Masters Degree in Electrical, Energy Engineering, or equivalent
- 2+ years' experience in a similar electrical or substation design role
- Knowledge of UK TSO/DNO or ICP (Independent Connection Provider) protection and control schemes
Desired
- Protection and Control design in a NERS certified environment or for major UK utility
- Experience with IEC61850 and programming of IED relays is an advantage.
