Responsibilities
- Line manage a small team of Ecological Consultants and Assistant Ecologists, and may also act as technical lead.
- Lead and manage large, complex projects from start to finish.
- Handle technically challenging tasks such as EPSL applications, EcIA chapters, and habitat regulation assessments.
- Deliver high‑quality reports and outputs, meeting or exceeding project deadlines and budget constraints.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring continued trust and satisfaction.
- Document professional experience and leverage it towards obtaining protected species licences.
- Take ownership of survey work quality, providing leadership to the field team.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with project managers and team leads about critical developments.
- Maintain active membership with CIEEM.
Requirements
- Experienced ecologist with an ecological or related subject degree.
- Technically competent with in‑depth knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques; advanced field skills in one or more specialist areas; holding protected species licences.
- Valid UK driving licence and access to a car suitable for business use.
- Based in the UK with Right to Work in the UK.
- Optional: ornithological skills, botany skills or a bat mitigation licence.
