We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our Primrose Croft Care Home in Cambridge. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Chef in preparing and cooking nutritious, healthy meals for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chef to prepare and cook nutritious, healthy meals using fresh ingredients.
  • Work according to scheduled meal plans, paying attention to individual dietary requirements.
  • Maintain excellent standards of hygiene.
  • Support at mealtimes, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Respect the choice and preferences of the residents.
  • Check kitchen equipment and report any concerns or faults to the Chef.
  • Apply Health & Safety knowledge, including Basic Food Hygiene, COSHH, safe moving and handling, and cross-infection control.

Qualifications

  • Experience of cooking for large numbers of people.
  • A passion for preparing and assisting with cooking of fresh, tasty, homemade food.
  • NVQ Level 2 (or qualification by experience) in catering and hospitality.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a catering environment.
  • At least 12 months experience managing a kitchen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements for people with dementia, physical disabilities, and mental health issues is desirable.

Pay & Working Hours

  • £13.45 per hour, 24 hours a week (Part Time 8am to 2pm). Alternate weekends required.
