We are looking for a practical, organised and customer‑focused IT Field Engineer to join our growing IT Department. The role involves travelling across London, Essex, Milton Keynes, Cambridge and surrounding areas, supporting care homes, offices and operational locations with a wide range of IT installations, upgrades and support activities.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to sites using a company vehicle to deliver IT equipment and infrastructure hardware.
  • Install and support switches, wireless access points, routers, and related network equipment.
  • Assist with Meraki, DrayTek, and Starlink installations following company standards.
  • Build, configure, and deploy laptops, desktops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Tag assets and record all deployed equipment, including serial numbers and installation details.
  • Install and maintain structured cabling, patch panels and network cabinets.
  • Provide onsite IT support where remote support is not suitable.
  • Take site photographs and maintain installation records.
  • Produce simple rack layouts, cabinet diagrams, and equipment location drawings.
  • Keep the enquiry/ticketing system (Freshservice) accurately updated.
  • Assist with site relocations, equipment moves, new site setups, and stock control activities at the Support Office.
  • Escalate technical issues to senior engineers when required.

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • 1–3 years of experience in IT support, field engineering, or technical support.
  • Experience installing or supporting network equipment such as switches, routers, and wireless access points.
  • Basic understanding of networking and WiFi technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Windows 11.
  • Experience working with CAT5e/CAT6 structured cabling.
  • Experience maintaining technical documentation and records.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Good organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Professional, friendly, approachable, and detail‑oriented.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
  • Comfortable travelling between multiple sites.
  • Hands‑on approach to problem solving and strong sense of ownership.
