We have a fantastic opportunity for a Care Home Regional Trainer to join a well‑established and supportive Home Management and Regional Team, helping to ensure our staff are fully trained and equipped to deliver outstanding nursing and care services. Our Essex and London region comprises 16 Nursing and Care Homes; therefore travel across the portfolio will be required, supported with two other Trainers. Excelcare is a family‑owned Care Home group established for over 34 years. We provide the highest standards of care to older people with a range of needs including dementia, physical disabilities, and mental health issues.

  • Salary: up to £40,000 per annum
  • Car Allowance: £5,000 – business mileage will be paid
  • Hours: 8 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday (onsite role)

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will be responsible for implementing and embedding the company's Quality Framework for learning and development across the region. You will ensure all team members receive regulatory, mandatory, and specialist training, while supporting and promoting continuous professional development across our workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver learning and development in line with the Quality Framework and key performance indicators.
  • Provide induction training and support completion of the Care Certificate.
  • Ensure all regulatory, mandatory, and specialist training is delivered and recorded via the Learning Management System.
  • Source and deliver training to support clinical, professional, and care practice development.
  • Support career pathways and development programmes in collaboration with the Training team.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of CQC standards, legislation, and training requirements.
  • Monitor, report and analyse training needs and outcomes for the region.
  • Deliver face‑to‑face training, including observational supervision, to embed learning in practice.
  • Maintain own training compliance and attend relevant meetings as required.

Qualifications & requirements

  • Recognised trainer qualification such as PTLLS, AET, Teaching diploma/degree or above.
  • Experience of training delivery within a social care setting.
  • A qualification in Health & Social Care is desirable.
  • Clear report writing and presenting complex data in a digestible format for a variety of audiences.
  • Car owner and full driving licence to be able to travel across the services.
  • Experience of managing training projects within a multi‑site environment.
  • Previous experience of maintaining and using a Learning Management System.
  • Experience of observing and assessing skills and providing constructive feedback.
  • Identifying trends and themes – gaps and areas for development.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively, with strong organisational skills and an adaptable communication style.
