Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe working environment by following health and safety procedures.
- Adhere to and promote good environmental practices.
- Use standard and custom tooling to assemble sub‑systems and complete powertrains for various top‑tier motorsport applications, including the current Chevrolet IndyCar engine.
- Investigate faults and failures through powertrain/component disassembly and non‑destructive/destructive testing, identifying potential reliability‑critical issues.
- Ensure engine build documentation is followed and completed accurately, including BOM, torque sheet, dimensions, tolerances and technical drawings.
- Operate gauges, dial test indicators, micrometers, calipers, height gauge, air gauge, spring force‑displacement equipment and slip gauges to track component usage and record build measurements in proprietary database software.
- Follow designated build manual or assembly drawings to lead the assembly of development and race engines.
- Carefully clean, inspect and prepare engine components for further inspection or build.
- Assemble and run rigs.
- Support job training of apprentices, trainees and new employees.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
- Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate development, delivery and compliance.
- Communicate and recommend solutions without compromising quality or service, while optimising cost.
- Support, comply with and ensure conformity with Health & Safety regulations, the company handbook, and all other Company policies and procedures.
- Encourage and develop the team, proactively contributing to a positive team atmosphere.
- Anticipate and overcome obstacles, making useful links to arrive at insightful plans and solutions.

Qualifications and Skills
- At least 3 years of relevant mechanical assembly experience.
- Background in Aerospace / Automotive / Motorsport Manufacturing (ideal).
- Advanced modern apprenticeship (level 3) or equivalent, or General Engineering BTEC (level 3) or equivalent.
- Strong planning skills and a logical, systematic approach to work.
- Good time management, ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- IT literacy, including proficiency in Excel and ability to handle electronic data.
- Understanding of risk management in the context of the Engine Build department.
- Open mindset to new ideas and a calm, measured approach to work.
- Natural problem‑solving ability, hand tool and basic machine tool skills.
