This role follows the development of ORE Catapult's Internal Communications Strategy and focuses on day-to-day delivery to connect, inform, and inspire staff. It is a hands-on, creative, and people-focused position suitable for a graduate or early-career professional with a passion for storytelling, culture, and engagement. The role will be based in Glasgow or Blyth with flexible working options.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Content Creation & Channel Management — Develop, own and manage the intranet; draft, design, and publish internal communications across email, intranet, Teams/Viva Engage, and newsletters; produce engaging stories about people, projects, and innovation; maintain the "Friday Feeling" newsletter and intranet homepage; own and develop all-employee communication channels for clear, consistent messaging.
  • Engagement & Culture Communications — Promote equality, inclusion and diversity strategy and initiatives; own and manage employee engagement feedback; coordinate updates from the CEO and Executive Team; support team briefs, content delivery, Q&A sessions, and internal campaigns; help deliver "You Said, We Did" updates based on employee initiatives.
  • Employee Engagement & Recognition — Partner with People, the social committee, and volunteering leads to promote events and achievements; create visual and written recognition content; own the Employee Awards/Kudos programme; manage the calendar of activities such as social engagement, awareness days, and celebrations; assist in development and delivery of All Team Conference; act as a core listener to maintain an open feedback loop.
  • Measurement & Improvement — Track engagement metrics (open rates, intranet visits, feedback); support pulse surveys and data analysis; suggest improvements and creative approaches for content.
  • Brand & Tone — Ensure internal communications align with values, tone, and visual identity; act as a cultural ambassador, championing "One Catapult. One Voice."

Skills & Experience

  • Excellent writing, editing, and visual communication skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft 365 tools (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook).
  • Interest in employee engagement, storytelling, and culture building.
  • Ability to craft compelling stories and engaging content suitable for a range of audiences.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Degree in Communications, Marketing, PR, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Desirable: familiarity with Canva, PowerPoint, or basic design tools.
