Responsibilities
- Undertake the necessary training programme to ensure competency.
- Demonstrate satisfactory skills development throughout the training programme.
- Undertake HGV driver training at the required stage within the training programme.
- Operate waste management equipment in a professional and legal manner.
- Achieve required standards of performance in regard to jobs per day, cleanliness of operations.
- Deliver excellent customer service.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe and legal manner.
- Deal with customers in a manner that retains their loyalty to the Company and delivers an outstanding service.
- Assist the driver operative to ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner that does not negatively impact human health, the environment or public amenity.
- Raise any issues, problems or concerns with your line manager at the earliest opportunity.
- Be courteous and respectful to customers at all times.
- Abide by all customer on‑site rules and regulations.
- Follow instructions on each work ticket.
- Help the driver operator to feed‑back to the office any additional customer requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
- Valid driving licence.

Training & Development
- The role includes an apprenticeship that covers:
- Follow operating procedures intelligently.
- Drive and operate equipment as per road and company regulations.
- Use equipment to achieve the required work.
- Use testing equipment properly.
- Submit logbooks as per legal requirements.
- Complete daily work sheets, consignment notes and all other paperwork accurately.
- Perform standard and target tasks, achieving minimum number of jobs per day.
- Stay away at night and cover emergency, out‑of‑hours, and additional work as required.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and risk assessments.
- Use defect reporting system and report every 'Near Miss'.
- Wear appropriate PPE.
- Participate in depot communications meetings.
