About the Role
We are looking for an Accounts Controller to join our Finance team in Hull, UK. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, payroll, and month‑end finance activities, while maintaining strong controls and compliance with internal and external requirements. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, supporting the day‑to‑day financial operations of the business and contributing to accurate financial reporting. This role is based onsite in Hull.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end‑to‑end accounts payable processes, including invoice posting, matching, reconciliations, and supplier queries.
- Prepare and process supplier payments in line with company controls and approval procedures.
- Process monthly payroll journals, including wages, National Insurance, PAYE, pensions, and benefits.
- Reconcile payroll, cashbooks, creditor balances, and intercompany accounts.
- Support month‑end close activities, including accruals, prepayments, overhead reviews, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate financial records within SAP and supporting finance systems.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, and statutory obligations, including HMRC submissions.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an Accounts Controller, Accounts Assistant, or similar role within a busy finance function.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, payroll accounting, and month‑end processes.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail with a structured and organised approach to work.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills; SAP experience is an advantage.
- Self‑motivated, able to manage multiple priorities, and work effectively under pressure.
