Independent Occupational Therapist at Occupational Therapy Essex
An opportunity has arisen to work in a growing independent Occupational Therapy practice based in Brentwood. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our team, to develop their skills further in this specialist area of paediatrics. We will be opening a new clinic in February 2024 and need a qualified occupational therapist to be part of this exciting move.
Occupational Therapy Essex provides services for schools, parents and local authorities to support children with difficulties with functional skills, motor-skills and sensory processing difficulties. We are a small, enthusiastic and friendly team who enjoy providing services to the children we work with. We have a great team spirit and enjoy each other’s company at work where a healthy work-life balance is encouraged. We are committed to excellence and provide regular staff supervision, opportunities to work with and learn from members of the team and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our team serving families and schools in the Havering and South Essex area.
We are ideally looking for someone to work full-time on a term-time basis 8.30am to 4.30pm (42 weeks per year plus 6 weeks paid holiday). Applications for part-time hours and year round working are welcomed. Salaries quoted are negotiable depending on experience and training. All grades will be considered and training is available.
The role will see you mainly based in schools with some allocated time in clinic and occasionally at a child\'s home. You will be able to work independently to provide assessment and therapy to identified students as required and build strong relationships with staff and carers. Many children are seen over long periods of time and intervention is provided regularly to meet the child\'s needs as specified on their EHCP.
When not working with children, administration will usually be carried out in our office in Ingrave, Brentwood with flexibility to sometimes work at home.
The successful candidate will be an Occupational Therapy graduate, be registered with HCPC and be a member of BAOT/RCOT. You will have experience working with children, not necessarily in an OT role, and be passionate about this client group. 2 years post graduate experience is desirable but applications from newly graduated candidates with previous relevant OTA experience are welcomed.
Confidence with use of technology is essential for using our online practice management software, preparation of programmes and use of Canva and Microsoft 365. Training will be provided.
We provide Sensory Integration Therapy as part of our offer with our 2 experienced ASI therapists now trained in administration of the EASI. Our new clinic due to open in February 2024 will provide a space with swings and large equipment and a more open, flexible space. The ideal candidate will be working towards or have achieved ASI qualifications but an opportunity to progress in this area may be available with funding available to follow this route after 6 months in post.
Main responsibilities:
To provide assessments and therapy for children with motor, self-regulation and sensory needs within a school, home and clinic setting.
To complete detailed assessments and produce reports to contribute to annual reviews and the Education, Health and Care Plan process.
To provide services in close collaboration with families, education staff and other professionals to meet the needs of the child or young person.
If you are flexible and adaptable, keen to learn, have excellent organisational, communication and problem solving skills and are able to quickly gain a good rapport with adults and children, we would love to hear from you.
The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, and must have a valid UK driving licence and use of a car for work.
