We’re seeking a highly experienced and driven Renewable Energy Design Engineer to join our team at a senior level. This key role will focus on leading the design and development of large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You’ll be central to delivering technically robust, compliant solutions for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production of high-quality designs, schematics, and specifications for Solar PV and BESS systems.
- Oversee and approve design outputs from internal development teams, ensuring compliance with technical standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
- Manage design workflows using tools such as AutoCAD and PVSyst.
- Liaise closely with project managers to ensure timely, cost-effective design delivery.
- Provide expert technical support across the project lifecycle—from concept through to commissioning.
- Act as the senior point of contact for technical queries from clients, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure all documentation is maintained in line with QMS standards.
Experience & Competencies
- 5+ years of experience in Solar PV and BESS system design.
- Deep technical expertise in system design, component selection, and grid integration.
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, PVSyst); knowledge of SCADA and Power Plant Controllers (PPCs).
- Strong understanding of HV/LV connections and grid compliance.
- Familiarity with industry standards (IEC, NEC, BS EN) and health & safety practices.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical or Renewable Energy Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Principal Designer qualification (desirable).
- Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
