Reporting to: Facilities Manager
Role Overview
The Maintenance Operative will report to the Facilities Manager, managing maintenance and repairs ensuring works are resolved effectively. This role will be responsible for maintenance work across our properties in Ipswich and Norwich.
Key Responsibilities
- Completing minor plumbing repairs such as fixing dripping taps or running toilet cisterns
- Painting both full flats and minor touch ups including filling in damage
- Installing household appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers
- Installing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
- Changing light bulbs
- Fixing toilet seats
- Site clearance
- Furniture assembly and moving furniture
- Fitting shelves, hanging pictures and installing window locks
- General building and grounds maintenance
- Undertaking maintenance tasks as directed and prioritise tasks according to urgency
- Ensuring standards and procedures are adhered to and work closely with Health & Safety
- Assisting in the improvement of Health & Safety standards across all sites
- Working collaboratively and engaging with other teams within the business
- Supporting the delivery of continuous improvement action plans
- Maintaining a safe and clean environment for all
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role with confidence carrying out general handyperson decorating and maintenance tasks
- Good practical skills across a variety of repair and maintenance tasks
- A genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service
- Good communication skills
- Competent with IT
- A full UK driving license
- Able to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Strong time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines and balance multiple priorities
- A positive can-do attitude and a flexible approach to your working day
- Awareness of health and safety for both yourself and others on site
- A willingness to work flexibly including outside normal hours when needed to maintain service continuity

Additional Information
This role will initially be appointed on a three-month fixed-term contract with a view to extending to permanent employment if successful. The successful candidate must by the start of the employment have permission to work in the UK. We require all candidates that have been offered employment with us to complete a background check that will include eligibility to work in UK employment referencing DBS check and depending on the role further checks may need to be conducted.
