Overview
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will deliver high-quality advice on commercial, procurement and transactional matters across Ocado Group, including international work, while mentoring junior colleagues. You’ll navigate complex tech and commercial contracts at pace and shape the team’s strategic direction. You’ll build trusted partnerships to support Ocado’s sustainable expansion and handle cross-border deals, licensing, data protection, and IP issues with a pragmatic, client-focused approach. This role offers meaningful impact through leadership of key projects and collaboration with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate and advise on domestic and cross-border commercial work related to technology, software and procurement
- Lead IT procurement, cloud, SaaS, licensing and data protection agreements
- Handle IP matters including licensing and collaboration agreements; manage data protection issues
- Draft and negotiate Ocado Solution Platform customer contracts and other commercial arrangements
- Support on construction, engineering and product delivery contracts
- Ensure governance and competition compliance in negotiations
- Advise on disputes, corporate and financing issues within commercial contexts
- Lead commercial aspects of key projects including corporate and capital markets transactions
- Manage external counsel and contribute to the legal team's strategy and training initiatives
- Develop standard contract templates and know-how materials
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with 4+ years PQE in commercial contracts/transactions (or equivalent ability to perform duties)
- Experience in commercial and technology transactions, ideally with top-tier law firms or in-house
- Proven ability to advise on domestic and cross-border transactional drafting and negotiating
- Strong track record with technology investments, IT procurement, design, manufacture, supply and licensing
- Experience handling master service agreements, SaaS, collaboration agreements, and e-commerce contracts
- In-house experience in fast-paced commercial environments; ability to engage with senior management
- Knowledge of corporate, capital markets and M&A transactions (preferred)
