Overview
In this role you will drive Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental compliance across Ocado’s global sites, embedding a proactive safety culture. You’ll work with the HSFE Lead and operations leadership to deliver first-line activities and practical guidance for safety improvements. The position is UK-based with travel to UK CFCs and occasional international travel. You will help design and improve HSFE processes, track metrics, and support investigations to prevent incidents. This is a hands-on role at scale, shaping safety practices in a high-tech, global operation.

Responsibilities
- Design and continuously improve the HSFE Management System
- Drive proactive safety culture through training and site engagement
- Identify emerging risks and design mitigation plans
- Contribute to the annual audit and inspection schedule
- Develop HS&E KPIs and emergency preparedness activities
- Support site inspections, audits and risk assessments with action tracking
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and track corrective actions
- Provide daily HS&E guidance to managers and operational teams
- Coordinate responses to HS&E queries and escalate complex issues
- Maintain HS&E documentation and reporting to meet standards and regulatory requirements
- Establish reporting cadences for leadership updates
- Implement sustainable processes for safe and compliant operations
Key requirements
- Solid understanding of UK health and safety legislation and its practical application in operations
- Experience conducting risk assessments, site audits, inspections and incident investigations
- Experience delivering HS&E advice, training and guidance across a multi-site network
- Strong knowledge of incident reporting requirements (RIDDOR) and regulatory standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence safety behaviors
- Ability to produce clear, high-quality technical reports and incident trend analyses
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) desirable; working towards NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) advantageous
