About the Role
The Head of Insurance is a key business role in leading on the risk identification, assessment, mitigation, financing and transfer strategies for insurable risks for the whole of the Group globally. This includes working with senior business leaders, operational teams and the Insurance market to create, implement and continually optimise insurance programmes on a global basis and managing the day to day functions and operations of the in-house insurance claims team.
In this pivotal role, you\’ll be the expert in safeguarding our company\’s assets, revenue, and liabilities on a worldwide scale. This isn\’t just about managing policies; it\’s about being a strategic partner, a problem-solver, and a key player in our continued success.
You will design, place, and maintain a global insurance program, including insurance-based employee benefits, and oversee and expedite major insurance claims. This role also involves supporting key risk programs like fire mitigation, managing outsourced broking and claims functions, and providing essential insurance and contract risk management advice to other areas of the business.
You will also be responsible for the procurement of Group Private Medical Insurance, Group Life Assurance, and Group Income Protection policies, and will act as the Secretary of the Employee Benefits Committee, responsible for the administration of Death In Service claims.

About you
- Technical understanding of insurance policy wordings and ability to review and advise of contract indemnities
- Understanding of the insurance market; negotiating skills; risk analysis skills
- Understanding of insurance, road traffic, employers liability laws
- Competent in working in an environment where we adopt an engineering-driven approach to risk reduction, including for our property and BI cover
- Experience in risk management and first notice of loss (FNOL) systems and processes
- Strategic planning and process optimisation
- Data analysis, methodical and analytical thinking
- Strongcommunication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Team management and coaching
- Numeracy and report writing skills are required
