About The Team And The Role

We are on the hunt for a talented corporate PR executive. One who has an eye for a story, a love of media and an ability to distil complex corporate narratives to drive advocacy amongst stakeholders and key audience groups. Based in our Communications and Social team, as an earned first storyteller you will be as comfortable engaging with media and handling inbounds at the press office as you are leading on the strategy for Ocado Retail’s LinkedIn to position us as a thought leader in the industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Strategy in Action – Proactively Promote the Brand
  • Corporate Storytelling & Press Office: Partner with the Corporate Comms Manager and the agency to lead on proactive press office storytelling, harnessing Ocado Retail’s data to position the brand as a cultural commentator on consumers shopping habits.
  • Media Relations: Manage the Corporate PR agency to deliver strong coverage across traditional and non‑traditional media outlets, landing key messages through press office storytelling and integrated masterbrand campaigning aligned to broader trends and insights.
  • Financial Reporting: Support the Head of Communications and Social and the Corporate Communications Manager with financial reporting and results announcements, including leading on the development of video content to bring our results to life on channels like LinkedIn.
  • Digital Thought leadership: Lead on ORL’s LinkedIn output, managing the channel alongside internal communications executive and the agency to humanise the brand and ensure we are considered an industry leader through insightful and varied content.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work with Commercial, Influencer, Social, Sustainability and Buying teams to uncover trends/data for key messages and identify relevant moments across the business that can help support Ocado’s corporate reputation.

Press Office

  • Reactive Communications: Lead on issues and crisis communications as they arise.
  • Escalation Management: Work closely with Customer Hub colleagues to handle PR escalations and ensure alignment on messaging for issues that impact customers.
  • Stakeholder Management: Keep relevant stakeholders (including the Leadership Team and shareholders) informed and updated on any issues concerning Ocado Retail in the media.

Internal Communications

  • Assist on the drafting of key statements and/or messaging for key internal projects as one of the comms experts within the business alongside ORL people team and other key stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues across the Ocado network, remaining tuned into the latest internal news to ensure external and internal communications strategies feel aligned.

Masterbrand Campaigns

  • Support on the development of creative masterbrand campaigns alongside the broader Communications and Social team to support broader business objectives around driving consideration for Ocado Retail and strengthening emotional connections with various stakeholders.

Who You Are

  • Experience in corporate communications, PR or media relations either at an agency or in house.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and engaging materials.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools and press office processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Interest in the media and retail landscape.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
  • Collaborative and love suggesting new ideas, angles and approaches which will get great engagement and pick up in the press.
  • Strong LinkedIn expertise: You have expertise in creating brilliant posts for LinkedIn and know how to galvanise internal leaders to share, post and interact on the platform.
