Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (including both day and night shifts)

We are looking for a motivated and experienced LGV Shift Supervisor to join our dynamic logistics team in Erith. Your Key Responsibilities

  • People Management
    • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of LGV drivers, providing effective feedback and support to foster their success.
    • Professionally handle employee issues in line with company policies and procedures.
    • Collaborate with the training team to successfully onboard new employees and coordinate any remedial training required.
    • Cultivate a positive and inclusive working environment to boost morale, promote excellence, and minimize employee churn.
  • Shift And Fleet Management
    • Oversee the day-to-day management of our vehicle fleet, ensuring maximum availability and safety.
    • Record and monitor vehicle defects, manage the driver defect process, and coordinate with fleet technicians.
    • Manage vehicle breakdowns and recovery efficiently to minimize operational disruption.
    • Monitor and administer vehicle systems, including Samsara maintenance and temperature monitoring.
    • Handle administrative tasks such as unit downloads, trailer wash cycles, and tracking missing mileage.
    • Conduct workplace inspections, yard checks, and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Health & Safety
    • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all tasks are performed in line with training and Safe Systems of Work.
    • Ensure you and your team observe all site safety rules and use appropriate PPE.
    • Report all accidents, incidents, and potential hazards immediately to your line manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing or supervising teams, particularly large groups.
  • Strong internal and external customer service skills.
  • A current and valid UK Driving Licence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of the UK Highway Code, EU driving regulations, and Working Time Directives.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders and service providers.
  • Familiarity with standard HR policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience in an FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment, fleet management, and health and safety.
