The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Senior Change Communications Manager to play a key role in transforming how we engage our people through change. Working across both hourly frontline and head office populations, you’ll develop and deliver change communications that resonate, land with clarity, and foster understanding and engagement across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, you will design and implement a high-impact change communications strategy, setting the standard for what great change communications looks like across the business. You will embed the foundations, establish clear processes and governance, and create consistent ways of working that ensure change communications are effective and impactful. Drawing on your deep change communications expertise, you will connect with a 16,000+ workforce, ensuring key messages are clear, compelling, and drive meaningful action at every level.
This is a fantastic opportunity to own the end-to-end change communications agenda — advising senior leaders, aligning stakeholders, and embedding a culture of clarity, engagement, and inclusion. You will define what “good” looks like for change communications, develop the frameworks and tools to enable success, and champion best practice across the organisation.
To be successful in this role, you will bring proven experience in change and internal communications across a diverse workforce, spanning both frontline and head office populations. You will lead initiatives that make change feel informed, connected, and engaging, while delivering measurable impact across a fast-moving operational business.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and lead a structured, strategic change communications function with clear processes and governance.
- Translate strategic priorities into actionable communications – from leadership briefings to digital campaigns, newsletters, and Connect+ content.
- Advise and influence senior leaders, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent, and impactful at every level.
- Ensure alignment between HQ and operational communications, embedding messaging across sites and teams to maximise adoption and engagement.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Comms Co‑ordinator to deliver high‑quality outputs across all channels.
- Analyse engagement data and campaign performance to inform strategy, refine approaches, and demonstrate measurable impact.
- Drive initiatives that embed our strategic narrative and build manager capability in communicating change effectively.
- Innovate with new approaches and tools to enhance colleague experience and engagement.
What we’re looking for
- Extensive experience in internal, change, or corporate communications, ideally in large, complex organisations or consultancy.
- Proven experience building and delivering strategic change communications that drive engagement and measurable impact.
- Experience creating structured processes, governance, and best practices for communications functions.
- Ability to influence and advise senior leaders, align stakeholders, and lead cross‑functional teams.
- Strong storytelling, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using internal communication platforms (CMS, intranet, Google software, Staffbase, or similar).
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret engagement data and make actionable recommendations.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, operational environment.
- Knowledge of change management frameworks, internal communications best practices, and employee engagement strategies.
- Strategic thinking and organisational visioning.
- Executive presence and senior stakeholder influence.
- Change communication and engagement expertise.
- Digital proficiency and technical understanding.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Collaborative and team‑oriented approach.
- Innovation, creativity, and proactive problem‑solving.
