Job Description
Finance Analyst
12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite, Hatfield Head Office
Why Ocado Logistics?
At Ocado Logistics, we’re transforming the way the world shops. As the engine behind Ocado’s UK operations, we combine cutting‑edge technology, a rapidly expanding network of sites, and exciting global partnerships to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
We’re the beating heart of the UK business – a connected network of warehouses and offices working together to optimise the supply chain. For our people, that means real variety, meaningful impact, and careers where no two days are the same.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a fully qualified Finance Analyst to join our Central Finance team on a 12‑month fixed term contract.
Reporting into the Finance Business Partner, you’ll sit at the centre of the business. This role supports Head Office and Engineering functions and would suit someone currently working as an Assistant Finance Analyst, Finance Analyst or Commercial Finance Analyst who is ready to step into a role with greater ownership and visibility.
This is a genuinely wide‑ranging role with exposure across a large and varied stakeholder groups. You’ll partner with the Engineering teams, collaborate with Procurement on areas such as contracts, and work closely with Technology teams when reviewing inputs like timesheets.
Why This Is a Great Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant at the early stage of their post‑qualification career, with some experience in commercial finance or industry, who is looking for genuine accountability.
You’ll act as the sole Finance Analyst for Head Office costs and Engineering inventory, owning these areas end to end. This includes posting journals, managing the month‑end process, and supporting budgeting and forecasting, while working closely with stakeholders across the business.
Beyond the core accounting, the role offers the chance to truly business partner – getting into the detail, solving problems, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. If you enjoy pace, autonomy, and exposure within a large organisation of over 16,000 employees, this role will suit you well.
What You’ll Be Doing
Core Accounting & Month End
- Preparing and posting journals across P&L, fixed assets, inventory and staff costs
- Owning the month‑end close and ensuring accurate, timely reporting
- Managing stock accounting, including budget stock engineering inventory – i.e. holding budget owners accountable for purchase and managing engineering Spares
- Controlling Head Office costs across technology, facilities, engineering and staff costs
- Managing non‑operational warehouse‑related costs (e.g. electricity, maintenance, facilities)
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles
- Producing variance analysis with clear, actionable commentary
- Conducting investigative and forensic‑style analysis (e.g. overtime usage, cost trends)
Business Partnering & Improvement
- Working closely with operations, engineering and head office teams
- Acting as a key finance contact, liaising directly with stakeholders
- Translating financial data into insight to support better decision‑making
- Supporting external reporting for grocery retail partners, including Morrisons
- Identifying inefficiencies and helping improve finance processes and controls
- Confidently challenging the status quo and driving change
What We’re Looking For
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Experience in commercial finance or industry
- Strong experience with journals, month end and data processing
- Confident communicator, able to engage non‑finance stakeholders
- Proactive, motivated and solutions‑focused mindset
- Enjoys investigative work and continuous improvement
Interview Process
Stage 1: Competency‑based interview with Finance
Stage 2: Interview with senior finance leaders, focused on insight, data interpretation and problem‑solving, including a short task
What You’ll Receive in Return
