About the role

We are currently looking for a

Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join our team to ensure our fleet remains safe and efficient.

In this role, you will be responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of our delivery fleet, ensuring all vehicles meet safety standards and operational requirements.

You will play a vital part in keeping our logistics network moving by performing everything from minor accident repairs to the installation of advanced vehicle technology.

You will be

As a Vehicle Technician, you will use your engineering and repair skills to maintain a safe and efficient fleet. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Executing mechanical repairs including electrical work, wheel changes, and defect repairs as documented in driver reports.
  • Performing technical installations and removals of critical vehicle technology such as telematics and collision cameras.
  • Conducting periodic van \"health check\" inspections and assessing refrigeration unit defects prior to specialist engineer call-outs.
  • Maintaining site-specific equipment, including minor repairs to LGV equipment and delivery tools like sack barrows.
  • Managing technical administration by ordering spare parts, controlling stock, and completing FMS cost pages and insurance invoices.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Minimum

  • A current UK Driving Licence is essential for occasional travel to other locations
  • Proven mechanical expertise with previous experience in motor vehicle maintenance, repair, engineering, or manufacture.
  • Diagnostic proficiency and analytical fault-finding skills to identify the root cause of mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Technical electrical skills to handle vehicle electrical repairs and the installation or removal of technology like telematics and collision cameras.
  • Practical experience with LGV equipment and the ability to perform minor repairs on heavy goods vehicle components.
  • Familiarity with workshop safety, including a good understanding of Safe Systems of Work and H&S legislative requirements.
  • Competence in using specialised tools and the ability to work at heights as necessary to complete vehicle or site repairs.
  • Administrative accuracy for completing defect documents in line with legal requirements and company procedures.
  • Basic computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite to manage parts ordering and digital documentation.

Preferred (in addition to minimum)

  • Vehicle inspection experience to MOT standards.
  • A recognised industry qualification.
  • Experience working within a Body repair facility.
  • Experience with Fleet Management Systems (FMS).
  • Good basic DIY skills for ad hoc requests.
