Function: Supply Chain Excellence
Here at Ocado Logistics, it’s our mission to provide an outstanding customer experience for our partners – developing groundbreaking technology, opening multiple sites at an accelerating rate, and engaging in exciting new business partnerships around the world. We\’re changing the way the world shops – for good.
As the beating heart of our UK business, Ocado Logistics combines a network of cutting-edge warehouses and offices with proprietary technology to deliver exceptional shopping experiences. Our mission is to optimise the supply chain, create exciting opportunities for our people, and ensure that no two days are ever the same.
About the role
We’re hiring our first 3PL Strategy & Partnerships Manager – a pivotal new role that will shape the long-term commercial and operational foundations of Ocado’s third-party logistics network.
This is not a typical contract management role. You’ll be accountable for £50m+ annual logistics spend and will act as Ocado’s lead in building high-trust partnerships with 3PL providers, ensuring they deliver best-in-class service, cost efficiency, and innovation. You’ll blend commercial contract management (open-book and closed-book) with strategic supply chain leadership – creating joint improvement plans, unlocking mutual growth opportunities, and embedding industry-leading practices that make Ocado’s 3PL relationships a true competitive advantage.
Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is essential, as you’ll need to travel to partner and network locations.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the commercial and contractual management of Ocado’s 3PL warehousing and transport partnerships.
- Designing and executing long-term strategies for Ocado’s 3PL network that balance cost efficiency, service excellence, and scalability.
- Acting as the key point of contact across Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain to ensure full commercial alignment.
- Building high-trust, collaborative partnerships with 3PL providers, driving joint improvement plans and innovation.
- Bringing structure and visibility to open-book models, validating cost inputs, and creating new benchmarks for commercial rigour.
- Supporting performance reviews, continuous improvement, and future 3PL onboarding.
- Translating strategic vision into operational reality across multi-temperature (ambient, chilled, frozen) environments.
- Identifying opportunities for automation, innovation, and industry-leading practices.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Proven experience managing warehousing and/or transport logistics contracts with 3PL providers.
- Strong end-to-end supply chain acumen across FMCG, grocery, or e-commerce – with credibility in warehouse and transport operations.
- Demonstrable commercial acumen, with hands-on knowledge of open-book and closed-book models.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, able to align 3PLs, suppliers, and senior stakeholders around common goals.
- Strong financial literacy, including forecasting, budgeting, and cost modelling.
- A future-focused mindset, curious about new technologies and automation, and able to challenge established methods constructively.
- A collaborative, approachable style with the ability to build trust quickly.
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between sites and supplier locations when needed.
What you can expect in return
At Ocado, we believe in a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported. You’ll find a safe and collaborative atmosphere, an award-winning recognition programme, and a benefits package that includes:
- Flexible work: 30 days of ‘work from anywhere’ policy per year
- Wellbeing support: Dedicated apps and an Employee Assistance Programme
- Generous leave: 25 days annual leave (rising to 27), plus options to buy more
- Pension plan: Up to 7% employer contribution matching
- Private medical cover for you and your family
- Family-friendly leave policies including maternity, adoption, shared parental, and paternity
- Financial perks: Interest-free train ticket loans, Cycle to Work scheme, and more
- Shuttle services: Free shuttle buses to and from site
- Share schemes: Get involved in our success
- Shopping discounts: 15% off Ocado.com and savings at popular retailers
- Financial protection: Income Protection and Life Insurance cover
What’s next – Interview process
We’re committed to finding the right person for this critical new role. Our interview process typically includes:
- Introductory call (30 minutes with Richard Wandowski, Lead Recruiter) – a chance to learn more about you and answer questions.
- In-depth interview – exploring your experience and suitability.
- Stakeholder panel – meet key business partners to understand cross-functional expectations.
- Final stage may include an in-person interview, potentially involving a presentation.
Throughout the process, you can expect a mix of technical, situational, and behavioural questions designed to assess your skills and fit. We also want to ensure it’s the right fit for you.
Join Ocado Logistics today and play a defining role in reshaping our 3PL partnerships at a time of rapid growth and opportunity.
