This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment where you\'ll have full responsibility for people, performance, facilities, and service delivery. The Role As Delivery Operations Manager, you\'ll play a pivotal role in site performance and customer experience. Leading a large team, you\'ll be accountable for operational KPIs, resource planning, and ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective deliveries. You\'ll lead by example, inspire your teams, and bring a proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving. Success in this role means driving both operational excellence and employee engagement - living and breathing our five pillars: Safety, People, Customer, Delivery, and Cost.
Responsibilities
- Full accountability for Manchester spoke operations, including staff, facilities, vehicles, and customer experience.
- Lead, develop, and motivate a team of 400 colleagues, including 8 Team Managers, 6 Chargehands, the Marshalling team, and CSTMS.
- Manage performance through operational KPIs, on-time delivery, absence, health & safety, and colleague development/appraisals.
- Oversee a large-scale operation of 110 vans delivering c.25,000 weekly orders.
- Plan resources and budgets effectively, ensuring operational and financial targets are met.
- Maintain strong communication across all levels, driving collaboration and customer service excellence.
- Take ownership of admin and data analysis - advanced spreadsheet skills are essential.
- We\\\'re looking for an experienced operational leader who thrives in a logistics or distribution environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior operations or site management role (transport/fleet management advantageous).
- A track record of managing large teams in a fast-paced, service-driven business.
- Strong leadership skills - charismatic, approachable, and able to inspire and motivate.
- A self-sufficient, proactive mindset, with the confidence to use initiative and drive improvements.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience at DPD, Amazon, Royal Mail or similar high-volume logistics businesses is highly desirable.
