The Opportunity
Following an exciting period of growth, we’re looking for a Senior Medical Writer, or someone ready to step into an Associate Principal Medical Writer position, to join one of our thriving business units. This is a pivotal role, offering the opportunity to lead key workstreams across a diverse and high-profile portfolio. The position will primarily support a large global oncology account spanning multiple indications, while also leading a broad range of UK-based projects. In addition, you may also contribute to a second account focused on specialist therapy areas, including a pre-launch nephrology programme.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact, combining your scientific expertise with strategic thinking and creative communication skills. In this role, you’ll:
- Join a 12-strong editorial team working alongside experienced client services professionals.
- Lead scientific content development across workstreams within a large global oncology account and a diverse portfolio of UK projects, covering scientific exchange meetings, stakeholder mapping and HCP educational digital platforms.
- Build strong client relationships and become a trusted scientific partner.
- Support and mentor junior writers while contributing to a collaborative and ambitious business unit of 25 professionals.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development of high-quality scientific and medical communications across a diverse range of deliverables, including slide decks, congress materials, websites, and other educational resources.
- Act as the editorial lead on key projects, taking ownership of delivery from briefing through to completion.
- Review work of junior team members, ensuring highest editorial standards are met.
- Contribute to development of accurate project timelines and editorial budgets.
- Apply scientific insight and strategic thinking to create content that aligns with client objectives and delivers impact.
- Build trusted relationships with clients and scientific experts, leading discussions and presenting content with confidence.
- Mentor and support junior writers, helping to develop editorial excellence across the team.
- Contribute ideas that drive innovation, continuous improvement and growth across client accounts.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree-qualified in a life sciences discipline (BSc, MSc, PhD or equivalent).
- Previous medical communications agency experience, ideally at Senior Medical Writer level.
- A proven track record of developing high-quality scientific content across a range of deliverables.
- Strong client-facing and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring or coaching junior writers.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and scientific acumen.
