Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in audit. As an Audit Expert, you'll build long-horizon audit tasks that mirror the work you already do, each paired with a deterministic rubric that grades agent performance against verifiable ground truth. Tasks need to have checkable answers; no open-ended essays, no subjective judgment calls.
Expect to build scenarios across:
- Planning: risk assessments against a fixed fact pattern with a documented expected rating, audit programs mapped to assertions
- Execution: control testing with known populations and defined sampling, confirmations against a ground-truth response set
- Wrap-up: workpaper reviews where defects are pre-identified, deficiency memos with required fields
These scenarios will be challenging and take long sessions of focus.
Who we're looking for:
- BS in Accounting; 2+ years in external audit (Big 4 or national firm) or internal audit at a public company
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Expertise in one or more of the following: SOX ITGCs, substantive analytics, sampling methodology, revenue or inventory cycles, a specific audit software (Aura, Clara, Canvas, TeamMate, AuditBoard)
- Comfortable reading and producing audit artifacts: workpapers, walkthroughs, test matrices, deficiency write-ups
- Clear written communication; can articulate reasoning step by step and encode it into deterministic rubrics
- Located in the United States or Canada
Compensation: $60–$85/hr depending on domain depth and prior experience. Strong contributors are promoted based on task quality and throughput.
