IT Support Field Engineer
Join Obsidian Networks Ltd as an IT Support Field Engineer based in Chester with occasional travel across the Northwest and UK.
What will you be doing?
- Liaising with clients and providing on‑site support, installations, maintenance and upgrades.
- Installation and maintenance/testing of Cat 5/6 cabling.
- Hosted VOIP set‑up & installations including roll‑out of phone systems, handsets and door‑entry systems (3cx).
- CCTV installations.
- Installation of networking equipment.
- Responding to faults and replacing equipment.
- Servicing and upgrading of IT products and services.
- Working hours Monday‑Friday 8.30 am–5 pm.
- Part of 24/7 on‑call rota.
- Occasional requirement to attend datacentres in Chester and Leeds.
- Continuous learning, undertaking training on bespoke software and hardware partnerships.
Key skills and experience
- Previous experience in a similar role within an MSP environment and field work.
- Experience installing hosted VoIP including 3cx, Yeastar.
- Experience with Microsoft cloud‑based services: 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and MS Office Suite.
- Networking/Routing/Firewall experience.
- Project experience of network design, implementation and troubleshooting.
- Full clean driving licence; ability to use company vehicle or own vehicle (mileage can be reclaimed).
