We are looking for an experienced Legionella Risk Assessor to join our team and support the delivery of high-quality, compliant risk assessments and water management services.

Location: Central South, England

Contracted Hours: 37.5 hours per week

As a Legionella Risk Assessor, you will be responsible for carrying out legionella risk assessments and associated compliance activities in line with current legislation and best practice. You will work closely with clients, facilities managers and internal teams to identify risks, provide clear recommendations and support the ongoing management of water systems. This role combines site-based inspections, technical reporting and client-facing communication, with opportunities to support wider water management services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct legionella risk assessments in accordance with ACOP L8, HSG 274 Parts 1–3 and relevant legislation
  • Inspect hot and cold water systems, including storage tanks, pipework, outlets and associated equipment
  • Identify and assess risk factors such as stagnation, inadequate temperatures, poor system design, scale and biofilm
  • Produce clear, accurate and compliant written risk assessment reports
  • Provide practical recommendations for remedial works and control measures
  • Review existing legionella management procedures and system schematics
  • Liaise with duty holders, facilities managers and clients to explain findings and recommendations
  • Populate and programme Records for Buildings
  • Carry out PPM tasks where required
  • Maintain and validate site records and compliance documentation
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to Genex engineers and site operatives
  • Ensure compliance with Legionella Control Association requirements
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, standards and industry best practice
What We’re Looking For
  • Recognised Legionella Risk Assessment qualification (e.g. City & Guilds, BOHS P901 or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of legionella legislation, guidance and best practice
  • Thorough understanding of HSE ACOP L8 and HSG 274
  • Awareness of environmental and health & safety legislation
  • Confident using IT systems, including word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload independently
  • Experience working with corporate clients and duty holders
  • Ability to work to agreed timescales with minimal supervision
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to work away from home during the working week
  • Knowledge of HTM 04
  • Experience assessing spa pools and swimming pools
  • Experience with closed system water chemistry, analysis and chemical treatment
  • Experience working in a regulated or compliance-driven environment
  • Confined space and asbestos awareness training
  • Flexible approach to working hours
Qualifications
  • City & Guilds Level 2 in Plumbing (or equivalent)
  • City & Guilds Legionella Control and Management
  • Unvented Cylinder Maintenance and Installation
  • Evaporative Cooling Tower Operation / Management / Risk Assessment qualification
  • CSCS card (or equivalent)
  • City & Guilds BS 1–4 or WMS risk assessment training
  • Confined Space and Asbestos Awareness training
