About the Role
The Mechanical Pipe Fitter – Gas Suppression Systems will be responsible for the installation and modification of high- and low-pressure pipework associated with gaseous fire suppression systems in critical environments.
The role requires precision workmanship, a strong understanding of gas suppression standards, and strict compliance with UK fire safety and pressure systems regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and modify pipework and cylinders for gaseous fire suppression systems (e. g. HFC-227ea, FK-5-1-12, Inergen, Argonite, CO₂).
- Accurately set out pipe routes in accordance with approved drawings and manufacturer specifications.
- Cut, thread, pipework to a high standard, including installation of high-pressure fittings.
- Install cylinders, manifolds, discharge nozzles, valves, brackets, and pipe supports.
- Ensure correct pipe sizing, routing, and nozzle positioning to meet system design calculations.
- Assist with pressure testing, pipework integrity testing, and commissioning activities.
- Work to relevant British Standards, manufacturer requirements, and LPCB/FM Global guidance.
- Maintain strict adherence to site health & safety requirements, RAMS, and permit-to-work systems.
- Liaise with PM’s, site supervisors, and commissioning teams to ensure successful system delivery.
- Identify and report non-conformances, defects, or design clashes.
- Complete installation records, test documentation, and site reports as required.
- Demonstrable experience installing gas suppression pipework systems within commercial, industrial or critical environments.
- Proven ability to work with high-pressure pipe systems to exact tolerances.
- Experience interpreting mechanical drawings, isometrics, and manufacturer installation manuals.
- Skilled in threaded pipework systems.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload on live sites.
