Based in Poole, this role requires an immediate start with the following shifts:
- 2 weeks of earlies - Monday to Thursday 6:00am to 2.15pm, Friday 6:00am to 12pm
- 2 weeks of lates - Monday to Thursday 2.15pm to 10.15pm, Friday 12pm to 7.30pm

Role Overview: As a Machine Shop Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading/managing a team of CNC Engineers who work on various shift patterns, ensuring high levels of machine shop performance to achieve business KPIs while adhering to health and safety regulations.

- Advanced PC skills, including expertise in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

- Solid understanding of contemporary lean manufacturing methodologies.
Duties:
- Ensure all risk and COSHH assessments are current and employees are aware of those relevant to their roles.
- Consult with management for consistency across shifts.
- Lead team functions including onboarding, setting objectives, appraisals, performance reviews, and identifying training needs.
- Manage employee relations: absence, return-to-work interviews, leave approval, underperformance, disciplinary issues, grievances, and ensure communication with line management and HR.
- Confirm team competency and monitor performance.
- Identify training needs and liaise with line manager and maintain updated training matrices.
- Coordinate with Planning to meet weekly targets and maintain on-time delivery.
- Oversee Health and Safety and wellbeing.
- Attend meetings as needed.
- Apply Lean tools and link them to KPIs.
- Support or lead continuous improvement and Lean initiatives with measurable results.
- Conduct RCA investigations for incidents.
- Lead by example in machining knowledge and problem-solving.
- Manage site opening/closing and emergency call-outs.
- Assist the production engineers with best practices and process improvements.
- Hold shift meetings and toolbox talks.
- Analyse KPIs, communicate their impact, and implement improvements with the team.
- Coordinate team efforts to achieve set targets.
- Attend management meetings and provide pertinent reports.
- Participate in recruitment, ensuring compliance with policies and fostering a strong team.
- Monitor attendance, job bookings, and address related issues to ensure full shift coverage and punctuality.
- Maintain equipment and work areas to high standards using TPM.
- Achieve quality targets and lead RCA events for ongoing improvement.
- Ensure adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures.
