Based in Poole, this senior operational leadership role oversees machine shop operations, manufacturing performance, people development and continuous improvement. The incumbent manages a multi-discipline team of more than fifty staff, ensuring efficient use of labour and equipment to produce high-quality products on time while meeting health and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure all risk and COSHH assessments are in place.
- Contribute to strategy decisions, including budget planning and production improvement.
- Lead and develop CNC machining and production engineering teams.
- Drive safety, quality, delivery and productivity performance.
- Manage capital investment, equipment strategy and technology adoption.
- Oversee new product introduction and design-for-manufacture activities.
- Implement Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programmes.
- Optimise CNC programming, CAM usage, tooling and fixturing strategies.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action programmes.
- Manage and drive introduction of new products in partnership with production engineering and operations teams.
Candidate skills:
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Proven experience managing leading CNC machinery shop manufacturing operations.
- Strong lean manufacturing and continuous improvement background.
- Overall knowledge of machining processes, tooling, fixturing and CAM.
- Experience leading, coaching and developing technical teams.
- HNC / HND or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Confident communicator with strong organisational and stakeholder management ability.
- Demonstrate experience utilising continuous improvement tools such as VSM, SMED, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban and error-proofing.
