Position: HGV Technician / Mechanic
Location: Sidcup
Hours: 40 hours per week
- Day Shift: Monday to Friday
- Late Shift: Monday to Thursday, 12:00 – 00:00
Salary (based on a 45‑hour week):
- Days: £39,500 – £47,000
- Lates: £46,500 – £56,500 (Actual pay will be adjusted to reflect the 40‑hour contract)
We’re looking for an experienced and reliable HGV Technician to join our workshop team in Sidcup. You’ll be working on a wide range of heavy-duty and refuse vehicles, carrying out diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance to keep vehicles safe, compliant, and performing at their best. The role suits someone hands-on, self-motivated, and committed to high standards.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Complete scheduled servicing in line with VOSA requirements
- Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections, carrying out necessary repairs
- Perform body, structural, and chassis work to transport regulation standards
- Maintain accurate service records and update internal systems
- Communicate professionally with customers and attend on‑site work when needed
- Follow all safety procedures and complete required risk assessments
- Participate in ongoing technical training to expand skills and qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
- Solid experience working with HGVs or commercial vehicles
- Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities
- Good understanding of wiring diagrams, hydraulics, and technical documentation
- Reliable, professional, and customer‑focused
- Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Flexibility regarding shift patterns and occasional overtime
- Desirable extras: IRTEC, HGV Class 2, or experience with electric vehicle systems
