This role will be linked to the delivery of a key project in the Bangor area.
Job Purpose
To manage and oversee the successful delivery of a construction project in the Bangor area, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the site team, coordinating subcontractors, managing programme delivery, maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships, and ensuring compliance with contractual, commercial, quality and SHEQ requirements.
As Project Manager at OB Construction, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of a major construction project. You will take responsibility for day-to-day project execution, ensuring the project is planned, coordinated and delivered in line with programme, budget, quality and compliance expectations. You will work closely with the commercial, design, site and SHEQ teams, while also liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other stakeholders. This role requires someone who is confident leading teams, chairing meetings, making decisions, resolving site issues and driving performance across all stages of the project.
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of the project in line with the main contract, Employers Requirements and Contractors Proposals.
- Lead and coordinate the site team, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Drive delivery of the construction programme, monitoring progress and identifying opportunities to maintain or improve the schedule.
- Chair regular project, coordination, client and subcontractor meetings, ensuring actions are clearly recorded and followed up.
- Work closely with the QS and commercial team to monitor budgets, variations, delays, risks and contractual entitlements.
- Ensure plant, labour and material resources are planned effectively and aligned with the project programme.
- Promote a performance-focused culture based on accountability, teamwork and proactive problem-solving.
- Support the production and maintenance of Inspection & Test Plans and ensure non-conformances are addressed efficiently.
- Ensure the project is delivered to the required quality standards, with appropriate documentation and records maintained.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and statutory bodies.
- Represent OB Construction professionally in all internal and external meetings.
- Identify project risks, opportunities and potential repeat business prospects, communicating these to the leadership team as appropriate.
Candidate Criteria Summary
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence.
- Proven experience delivering construction projects as a Project Manager.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, ideally JCT, NEC or equivalent.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project budgets, variations and programme implications.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage site teams and subcontractors effectively.
- Commitment to health, safety, quality and compliance standards.
Desirable:
- Degree or qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Experience working on public sector, education, commercial or refurbishment projects.
- Experience using construction management systems such as Procore, Asta, MS Project or similar.
- Willingness to travel to Head Office or other project sites as required.
