Stanimira Brown is a Charity & Foundation Coordinator at The Drax Group. The Drax Group operates Drax power station in Goole, Yorkshire, the largest renewable power station in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • The Drax Foundation helps with STEM, nature, and energy-saving projects. I visit charities and see what a difference Drax funding makes to communities.
  • Good communication is key in my role, from covering official notification letters, dealing with enquiry/response emails, successful/unsuccessful award notifications, and giving feedback.
  • Sensitivity to the receiving audience is needed with award notifications and feedback. Each country has very different cultures and values; understanding local customs and modifying the language and content of communications to suit the stakeholder is essential.
  • I coordinate charitable giving across the Drax group, liaising with community managers and not-for-profit organisations in our local communities in Canada, USA, England, and Scotland.
  • I engage with stakeholders, working with not-for-profit organisations interested in applying to the Drax Foundation, as well as monitoring the projects of successful awardees. Running up to the deadline for submission, we receive expression of interest forms from charities, which are evaluated for projects that fit fully or partially into our funding criteria.
  • I review application forms and rewrite questions depending on the type of data we want to gather from our charitable work. Charity applications are evaluated, shortlisted, and successful applications are submitted to the committee for a final decision.

My role is central to the successful delivery of charitable initiatives at The Drax Group.
