Oastlers School is a Trauma Informed UK School. We help children and young people move towards positive emotional and relational health so that learning — and lives — can flourish. Our fantastic school is a well‑established, designated SEMH specialist provision with capacity to serve 179 learners, supported by a team of talented colleagues, across two sites in central Bradford and Keighley. We are a school that’s proudly part of Exceed Academies Trust — a high‑reputation family of 14 schools with a system‑lead role through the Exceed Teaching School Hub and outstanding Exceed SCITT. You’ll collaborate, contribute and grow within a Trust that believes in inclusive, community‑minded excellence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for children's wellbeing, behaviour, equality and attendance. The role will involve establishing relationships with learners and families and ensuring that the school's inclusive values are reflected in daily practice. Some of our learners are involved in high risk-taking activities such as substance misuse, going missing, vulnerability to exploitation and much more. They may lead chaotic lifestyles or suffer from neglect, all forms of abuse and witness to domestic violence and family turbulence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop inclusive practice across the school, promoting equality, diversity and access to learning for all.
  • Responding to the day to day implementation of the school's Behaviour Policy and supporting learners with their learning in the classroom.
  • Establish productive and positive working relationships with learners, acting as a role model that promotes positive values and attitudes.
  • Provide informal support for crisis and trauma, including signposting/referring to specialised services.

We can offer:

  • Children who are enthusiastic to learn.
  • Fantastic facilities.
  • Opportunities for further development and training.
  • A healthy work-life balance.
  • Free access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Free, on-site parking.
  • Excellent employer pension contribution scheme.
  • Supportive Trust central team, school leadership, governors, staff and parents.

We would warmly encourage any interested candidates to visit our school setting. In order to do so, please contact Robert Fairbairn to make the necessary arrangements.
