A unique opportunity to join our exceptional SEND team who are passionate about supporting our young people with special educational needs and disabilities. Our students are kind, funny and have huge potential; for the right candidate Oasis Academy Brislington is an incredibly rewarding place to work.

Oasis Academy Brislington are seeking to recruit an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our mainstream SEND team. The successful candidate will be able to provide holistic support to the students they work with including learning support, emotional and well-being support and communication and interaction support.

Our teaching assistants are supported by our highly experienced SENDCo and Specialist Lead TA who lead the team with knowledge, passion and a relentless drive to ensure SEND learners secure parity of achievement with their peers. KS4 outcomes for our young people with an EHCP were above national average in 2025; a testament to the excellent support that they received and our ‘unapologetically ambitious’ curriculum for all learners.

Leaders at Oasis Brislington recognise and value the skills and commitment from our teaching assistants and we have put in place a robust programme of Professional Development to ensure that they have the same opportunities for development as their teaching colleagues. Within the SEND team there are opportunities for career development through our Lead TA role model; something which we are happy to expand upon at the interview stage.

The Academy

Oasis Academy Brislington is part of the Oasis Community Learning family, a multi-academy trust with the express purpose of transforming schools into community hubs, through applying a holistic view of education. This is an exciting time to join us at Oasis Brislington. We are a large and oversubscribed secondary academy with 1,360 students on roll. The academy was inspected by OFSTED in October 2021 and was categorised as a ‘Good’ school by the inspection team.

We are an inclusive 11-16 community whose aim is to ensure 'Excellence as Standard' in everything we do. We want our students to become the very best version of themselves; our vision is to equip them with the confidence, knowledge and skills to stand as "first among equals". We are incredibly proud of our students and the wonderful people we see them blossom into throughout their time with us.

What we can offer you:

  • A supportive network and family of staff in a motivating working environment
  • Fantastic community of children, parents and carers who deserve the best
  • Genuine opportunity to make a difference where it is needed
  • Opportunities for training and development internally and externally
  • Generous local government pension scheme
  • The opportunity to further your career within the Trust and region.
  • Access to Eye Care vouchers and a national Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Access to Health Shield Cash Plan which can include 24/7 access to a GP, assistance with the cost and access to dental treatment, eye-care, physiotherapy, and chiropody.
  • Support to balance your work/life/caring responsibilities via our Time Off Work Policy, Menopause Policy, and Flexible Working.
  • Trust wide recognition of the challenges to mental health, facing both staff and students, and the support of our National Mental Health Team which is staffed by professionally qualified Mental Health Nurses.
  • Confidential Counselling services for you and those that live with you, should times get tough.

What we are looking for:

  • A committed, passionate individual who wants to improve the life chances of students within Bristol.
  • A great team player, who is able to work collaboratively to enhance the opportunities that we can give our students.
  • A person who is committed to helping our students to have the ability to stand as first amongst equals.
