Description:

This is a 39 hours a week position. The role will involve assisting in the provision of Health & Social care in all aspects of daily life for our core members that we support. The Care Assistant will build strong supportive relationships and assist our Core members with support in all aspects of daily living in line with the needs, will and preference of the individual and as outlined in an agreed care plan. He/she will ensure that they are being met through professional work practices.

We would ask that they must be flexible in their approach to service provision and should have the ability to work as a member of the team. The purpose and role is to build strong supportive relationships with our Core members, to be responsible for the daily routines and welfare of the Core members within the house you are working in. You will be accountable to the House Leader and Residential Coordinator (PIC) and contribute by working closely with the members of the staff team, helping promote good practice, taking part in staff meetings and contributing to meeting objectives.

To ensure that the Residential Service is run in keeping with the ethos and spirituality of L’Arche as outlined in our Identity and Mission Statements. To assist the House Leader and Deputy House Leader in regard to compiling and presenting reports as required. To work with the volunteer Live In Assistants for the smooth running of the house. To promote the dignity and image of the Core members. Must be willing to be flexible to cover the seven day roster that includes days, nights, sleepover, late evenings and weekends.

To maintain the Health and Safety of the working area, maintenance of written records, monitoring accidents, incidents, reporting and recording them appropriately. The applicant must have a minimum of a Fetac/QQI level 5 in Healthcare/Social Care. There is a six month probationary period applying to the employment and is subject to Garda vetting. Only individuals currently resident and approved for work in Southern Ireland can be considered for this position.
