An opportunity has arisen for a flexible and resourceful Science Technician to join our team at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill. You will play a crucial role in supporting the wider Science department with preparation and assistance with Science-related materials. We are seeking an inspirational and outstanding Science Technician to shape and develop our Science Department.
You must be able to support a range of teaching strategies to inspire and motivate our students and demonstrate a commitment to sharing best practice with colleagues in the Department. A willingness to support the Academy ethos and support of extra-curricular activities with the Science Department is essential. You will have the responsibility for the promotion and observance of a safe working environment for the department.
Candidates should ideally hold a science qualification and have previous experience of working in a school laboratory environment.
Job OverviewYou’ll be responsible for the preparation of a range of materials and apparatus for the Science curriculum within teaching rooms for academic staff and students. You will take pride in ensuring Science facilities are maintained to a high standard, conforming to Health and Safety standards, whilst also assisting in auditing the use of facilities and equipment and maintaining the equipment stores.
Job Requirements- Minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant Science specialism
- GCSE English and Maths at C grade or above
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to effectively monitor usage and standards of equipment and facilities
- Knowledge of relevant school policies and codes of safe practice within the classroom
All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks. This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and applicants should have the ability to speak fluent English for this role.
