Role Overview
Support the Head of Faculty in providing leadership for the English department in consultation with the Principal, staff, parents and Academy Council, to bring about high standards of education.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum and assessment strategies that meet national and school standards.
- Provide instructional leadership and support to teaching staff, including mentoring, observation and feedback.
- Analyse student performance data to identify improvement areas and report findings to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with parents, staff and Academy Council to promote student development.
- Ensure effective resource planning and allocation for the department.
- Assist in the recruitment and induction of new teachers.
- Represent the Academy in external relationships related to the English department.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Benefit: Part 7 of Immigration Act (2016) coverage – must be able to speak fluent English.
- Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, teaching degree).
- Experience in curriculum design and assessment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Eligibility for enhanced DBS checks.
