We are seeking a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our Extended Provision Unit (EPU). This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils who require a more personalised, nurturing learning environment to succeed both academically and socially. The Extended Provision Unit supports pupils with additional needs, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning, supporting behaviour regulation, and helping pupils engage positively with education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver targeted learning activities to individuals and small groups.
- Lead lessons in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
- Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs, implementing strategies to promote engagement and wellbeing.
- Work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning materials and interventions.
- Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress.
- Support behaviour management strategies in line with the school's ethos and policies.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a role model.
- Contribute to the development of personalised support plans.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Experience working with children with additional needs, particularly SEMH.
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient approach.
- The ability to lead learning independently and adapt to individual pupil needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and promoting pupil wellbeing.
