Finance Manager – Permanent – based in Daventry, NN11
Job Purpose
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join a growing business in Daventry, supporting the finance function across three distinct businesses with different operating models.
This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of core financial processes while managing and supporting a team of three.
You will act as the key link between senior management and the finance team, providing guidance and oversight while also being involved in the day-to-day accounting activities.
The role would suit a good all-round finance professional who is comfortable working across multiple areas of finance, managing competing priorities and supporting the continued development of the finance function.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and support a team of three within the finance function.
- Act as the link between senior management and the finance team, providing guidance, support and oversight.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledgers across multiple companies.
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts.
- Prepare and review trial balances.
- Complete and oversee balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journals.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Record day-to-day financial transactions, including invoices, payments and expenses.
- Manage and oversee payment runs.
- Assist with payroll preparation and administration.
- Monitor cash flow and update forecasts as required.
- Review financial information and investigate discrepancies.
- Support the finance team through month-end processes and reporting deadlines.
- Produce accurate financial information within agreed deadlines.
- Contribute to process improvements and the continued development of the finance function.
- Work closely with the wider business to ensure accurate and timely financial information is available.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on finance professional who is comfortable working across different areas of accounting and supporting a small team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Confident managing and supporting a small finance team.
- Good communication and people-management skills.
Experience
- Previous experience in a Finance Manageror similar finance role.
- Experience managing or supervising a small finance team.
- Experience working within a multi-entity or multi-company environment.
- Experience with journals, general ledgers, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
- AAT Level 3 qualification as a minimum, or QBE.
- Candidates who are part-qualified or qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA will also be considered.
Desirable
- Previous experience working across multiple companies.
- Experience using Xero would be advantageous but is not essential.
