We are seeking a driven and ambitious Financial Controller to lead the operational finance function across a growing multi-entity business. This role is responsible for overseeing financial processes, controls, reporting, and compliance, while providing strategic financial insight to support decision-making and long-term planning.
Working closely with the senior management team, the successful candidate will ensure high-quality financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and drive continuous improvement across the finance function.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial statements including profit & loss, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow reports, variance analysis, and commentary
- Oversee departmental budgets and monitor performance against financial targets
- Support company-wide budgeting and forecasting processes
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and financial legislation
- Analyse financial trends and market conditions to support strategic planning
- Interpret complex financial data and present clear, actionable insights to stakeholders
- Supervise finance team members, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations (invoicing, payroll, data tracking, etc.)
- Produce monthly and annual financial reports
- Identify and implement strategies to minimise financial risk
- Coordinate external audit processes and ensure compliance standards are met
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners such as banks, auditors, and service providers
- Develop, update, and enforce financial policies and procedures
- Maintain and manage the finance department policy manual
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems and processes
Person Specification:
- Highly motivated, proactive, and commercially aware
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Experience:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience, or 6 years qualified by experience (QBE)
- Proven experience in a finance role with increasing responsibility
- Strong financial reporting and data analysis skills
- Experience working with financial systems and improving processes
- Experience in business partnering and supporting senior stakeholders
- Exposure to project work or business development initiatives is advantageous
Hours of Work:
Monday – Friday (37.5 hours)
Work Location:
Office-based role with potential need for occasional travel between business sites. Some flexibility for hybrid working may be considered.
