Join OANDA’s AML team as part of the onboarding process across Europe and BVI Divisions.
The role ensures new client onboarding complies with regulations and legal requirements, supporting OANDA’s continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Conduct onboarding AML decisions and risk assessments, exercising discretion and judgement to conduct appropriate investigations.
- Review and assess individual new account applications.
- Review and assess corporate new account applications, including determination of ultimate beneficial owners and verification of discrepancies with the Central Register of Actual Beneficiaries (CRBR).
- Review and assess Professional and Experienced classification requests.
- Review and assess new Affiliates/IBs.
- Act as SME and point of referral/escalation for PIU updates, deceased clients, closing accounts, joint accounts, power of attorney, application anomalies, Mi FIDII data mis‑matches.
- Ensure adherence to local regulations (e. g. FCA, MFSA) and relevant AML laws by following procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate audit trail and documentation evidencing each onboarded applicant or query.
- Serve as local point of escalation for referrals or suspicions, and when necessary refer to the Team Manager for further review and investigation.
- Operate efficiently to meet personal variable volume and qualitative targets.
- Identify areas for development in operations, systems and training needs.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2years of experience processing new account applications for individuals and corporates.
- Excellent decision‑making, time‑management and organisational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; solution‑focused mindset.
- Extensive knowledge of UK and EU regulations and AML obligations.
- AML‑focused with a firm grasp of the purpose of regulatory and legal requirements.
- Enquiring mind with AML risk recognition and problem‑solving skills; attention to detail.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and maintain a client‑centric approach.
- Ability to work independently and multitask with minimal supervision.
