As we continue our ambitious growth journey, we’re looking for a hands-on Installation Engineer to play a vital role in delivering world-class automation projects across the UK.
As an Installation Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering OAL projects across all key phases of The OAL Way from build and testing through to site installation, commissioning and customer handover. You’ll split your time between our Peterborough-based workshop and customer food manufacturing sites nationwide, working closely with our Operational team and customers to ensure every installation is delivered safely, on time, on budget and to specification. This is a practical, customer-facing role, ideal for an engineer who enjoys variety, problem-solving and seeing projects come to life on site.
Responsibilities
- Building, wiring and testing electrical panels and automation systems in the workshop
- Preparing systems and hardware for deployment, including pre-installation testing
- Installing containment, equipment and infrastructure at customer sites
- Carrying out electrical testing in line with regulations, standards and site requirements
- Working from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and checklists
- Supporting commissioning activities and system handover on site
- Completing accurate documentation and fault reports
- Working safely at all times, following permits, lock-out/tag-out and PPE requirements
- Collaborating across engineering, projects and operations to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Communicating professionally with customers and escalating issues or improvement opportunities
Qualifications
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent), completed or working towards
- ECS Card including Electrical Safety Essentials (Gold Card Installation Electrician preferred or working towards)
- A practical, hands-on approach with strong build, wiring and installation skills
- High standards of engineering workmanship and attention to detail
- Understanding of electrical safety and sound engineering practices
- Must be happy to travel and stay away from home for site-based work
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work safely in live production environments
Desirable
- Experience installing electrical or control systems
- Exposure to automation, robotics or control panels
- Familiarity with food manufacturing environments and site technical standards
