Are you an experienced Project Engineer with a passion for automation, robotics, and hands-on problem-solving? This is a field-based position where you’ll be at the heart of project delivery installing, commissioning, testing and optimising automation and robotic systems on customer sites. As our Project Engineer you will:
- Install, commission and test automation and robotic systems at customer sites.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with OAL standards and procedures.
- Act as the main on-site point of contact, ensuring systems meet specification and performance criteria.
- Provide technical support during commissioning, including system adjustments and troubleshooting.
- Deliver training to customers on system operation and safety.
- Produce technical documentation such as installation records, test reports and user manuals.
- Support fault reporting, root cause analysis and design modifications.
- Work collaboratively with Controls, Design, Mechanical and Project Management teams.
- Maintain accurate progress reporting and work within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Contribute to continuous improvement around project delivery, system reliability and safety.
Key Experience & Skills
Essential
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in automation, robotics or industrial control systems.
- Hands-on electrical and/or mechanical installation and commissioning experience.
- Strong understanding of automation technologies, sensors and control systems.
- Excellent communication and customer engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel and spend significant time on customer sites (typically >50%).
It would be great if you had:
- Experience in food manufacturing or process automation.
- Knowledge of PLCs, control panels and system integration.
- Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree).
