Are you an experienced Project Engineer with a passion for automation, robotics, and hands-on problem-solving? Join OAL and play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge engineering solutions to leading manufacturers across the UK. This is a field-based position where you'll be at the heart of project delivery installing, commissioning, testing and optimising automation and robotic systems on customer sites. As our Project Engineer you will:

  • Install, commission and test automation and robotic systems at customer sites.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with OAL standards and procedures.
  • Act as the main on-site point of contact, ensuring systems meet specification and performance criteria.
  • Provide technical support during commissioning, including system adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Deliver training to customers on system operation and safety.
  • Produce technical documentation such as installation records, test reports and user manuals.
  • Support fault reporting, root cause analysis and design modifications.
  • Work collaboratively with Controls, Design, Mechanical and Project Management teams.
  • Maintain accurate progress reporting and work within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement around project delivery, system reliability and safety.

Key Experience & Skills

  • Essential Minimum 5 years' experience in automation, robotics or industrial control systems.
  • Hands-on electrical and/or mechanical installation and commissioning experience.
  • Strong understanding of automation technologies, sensors and control systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel and spend significant time on customer sites (typically >50%).

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience in food manufacturing or process automation.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, control panels and system integration.
  • Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree).
