Award winning north Leeds firm is looking for a Legal Assistant to join their busy Wills and Probate Department. The successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to learn new and key skills which will assist them at the start of their careers. At Oakwood Solicitors Ltd, people matter. Key Tasks (not an exhaustive list):
- Taking initial details from new clients and completing new enquiry forms
- Setting up new client files for Wills & Probate and Family
- Making and receiving client calls, taking messages, arranging client appointments
- Receiving internal calls from Admin & New Enquiries regarding new clients
- Attending client meetings out of the office with a fee earner e.g. – Will signings, to collect documents from empty properties, etc.
- Attending clients in reception to take instructions or provide assistance in the absence of fee earners
- Work on files whilst under the supervision of a fee earner – letters, creation of documents, requesting and paying in cheques, etc.
- Closing files in readiness for archive
- General administration duties – photocopying, filing, preparation of bundles as required
- Assisting with marketing activities
- Plus, any additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be expected in accordance with the role.
Experience:
- Experience in customer service or client facing roles
- Experience of communicating with clients and other professionals
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
Desired Experience:
- Knowledge and understanding of the area Wills & Probate (LPC elective chosen)
- Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Experience of working with elderly and vulnerable clients
- Knowledge and understanding of Proclaim
- Good communication skills and literacy skills
