Northampton Children's Trust is seeking an experienced, passionate, and motivated Supervising Social Worker to join our dedicated Post Approval Team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting our foster carers and ensuring that children and young people receive high-quality, safe, and stable care placements where they can thrive.
Key Responsibilities- Hold a caseload of approved foster carers, providing regular supervision, guidance, and support
- Contribute to the duty system and work collaboratively with the Placements Team to identify suitable placements
- Undertake assessments to understand the needs of children, young people, and families
- Regularly visit foster carers, children, and families to provide advice, support, and interventions
- Carry out direct work with children and families to build positive, trusting relationships
- Monitor and review placements, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions
- Ensure safeguarding and promote the welfare and well-being of children and young people at all times
- Complete reports, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reviews and meetings
- Undertake any additional duties required to support the service
- Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience within an English Local Authority (essential)
- Recognised Social Work qualification
- Social Work England registration (must be current)
- Strong knowledge of fostering regulations and safeguarding procedures
- Excellent communication, assessment, and organisational skills
