At OakNorth, we’re on a mission to empower the UK’s most ambitious businesses. Since 2015, we’ve lent over $18 billion across the UK and US, helped create more than 58,000 new homes and 36,000 new jobs, and supported hundreds of thousands of personal savers — all while fuelling the UK economy.

We’re looking for a Content Writer to join the Marketing team and help shape how OakNorth tells its story across Lending, Business Banking and Personal Savings. This is a content-led role, suited to someone with a strong editorial instinct and a journalist’s mindset. You will create engaging, well-researched content that helps customers understand what OakNorth does, why it matters, and how our products fit into their world. That includes long-form pieces, explainers, thought leadership, lead magnets and flagship content that educates, builds trust and drives demand over time.

You’ll work closely with Product Marketing, Growth, Product and Commercial teams to turn complex financial topics into clear, compelling narratives that attract new customers and deepen understanding of OakNorth’s propositions.

What you’ll do:

  • Create high-quality editorial content across Lending, Business Banking and Personal Savings
  • Write engaging long-form pieces such as articles, blogs, guides, explainers, reports and lead magnets
  • Develop thought leadership content that positions OakNorth as an expert across lending, business banking and personal savings
  • Translate complex financial products, customer problems and market trends into clear, accessible stories
  • Work with cross-product subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate, insightful and customer-focused
  • Identify content opportunities based on customer questions, market trends and commercial priorities
  • Plan and contribute to editorial themes and content calendars
  • Edit, refine and elevate content to maintain clarity, consistency and quality across channels
  • Maintain and help evolve OakNorth’s tone of voice across customer-facing content

What success looks like:

  • More customers discovering OakNorth through high-quality, engaging content, ultimately driving growth
  • Customers having a clearer understanding of what OakNorth does and how our products help them
  • Strong engagement with content, measured through readership, time spent, downloads and return visits
  • OakNorth being recognised as a trusted voice across lending, business banking and personal savings
  • A consistent pipeline of thoughtful, relevant content that supports growth and brand credibility
  • Strong collaboration with Product Marketing, Growth and Commercial teams to ensure content supports wider business goals

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience as a content writer, journalist or editorial lead, ideally covering complex or technical topics
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage and educate different audiences
  • Experience creating long-form content, thought leadership or editorial pieces rather than short-form ad copy
  • Ability to simplify complex subjects while maintaining accuracy and credibility
  • A curious mindset and confidence interviewing stakeholders or subject matter experts
  • Clear, structured thinking and strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple pieces of content across different products and themes
  • Experience in fintech, financial services or B2B is a plus, but not essential

Why join OakNorth:

  • Work across a diverse product set spanning lending, banking and savings
  • Influence how a regulated bank communicates with customers at scale
  • Be part of a fast-growing, high-impact marketing team with real ownership
  • Competitive salary, benefits and opportunities for career growth

What makes working here better:

  • A genuinely flexible, hybrid role: Work from home with the option to collaborate in person when it adds value.
  • Work-life balance: 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, alongside enhanced family leave allowances.
  • Competitive salary and equity: A competitive salary and equity, giving you a meaningful stake in the success of the business.
  • The right tools: Your choice of a high-quality laptop, running macOS or Ubuntu.
  • Team and company socials: Regular opportunities to connect with your team and the wider company, including informal breakfasts and dinners at OakNorth, and daily access to our in-house barista bar.
  • Commuter support: Access to cycle-to-work and electric vehicle schemes.
